Radiology Imaging Associates (RIA) is comprised of over 100 radiologists. All with exceptional skill and expertise, most are fellowship-trained in their field of specialty for additional certification. We are dedicated to accurate and efficient patient diagnosis no matter their condition. Our interventional radiologists perform some of the most leading-edge treatments available today. We partner with primary care physicians and hospitals across Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and Hawaii to provide a resource for both patients and physicians.
Summary of Position: The Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the neurointerventional team and the patient to identify and meet the physical and emotional needs of the patient. The RN is clinically competent and promotes the optimal health, well-being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing processes in accordance with patient care standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Triage patient phone calls and route appropriately to INR NP’s or Physicians
  • Schedule INR procedures and completes patient pre-op education pamphlets
  • Responsible for the daily clinic workflow, assures patients are brought back to the exam room in a timely manner and facilitates physician efficacy
  • Informs the technologist or radiologist of any unusual patient needs
  • Assess patients; collect and document the patient's current health status and medical history.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in recognition and appropriate nursing intervention for:
    • Anaphylactic shock
    • Medication adverse reactions
    • Contrast reactions
  • Documents accurate and ongoing assessment of patient status. Documents patient care which reflects nursing intervention, patient response to care provided, patient needs, problems, and progress.
  • Communicates with the Radiologist regarding patient needs, the nursing assessments, and recommendations.
  • Collaborates with healthcare team members to ensure the patient's well-being.
  • Acts as a professional role model for all staff demonstrating ethical/legal/professional nursing process.
  • Advises patients on the appropriate dosage and route of pre-operative medications
  • Observes and documents patient's response to pertinent medications
  • Demonstrates necessary skills and knowledge to provide care for patients during procedures
  • Demonstrates ability to handle contrast reactions and other emergency situations in a prompt, precise, and professional manner
  • Demonstrates correct and safe technique in the use of equipment according to specific product information.
  • Participates in economical utilization of supplies and ensures that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
  • Calls each post-operative patient within three days of discharge to screen for complications
  • Assists with research studies as delegated by the Practice Manager
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience/Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a patient care setting
  • Knowledgeable regarding the nursing process in a medical imaging environment
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Demonstrates familiarity with equipment necessary in performing his/her job
  • Maintains a continuing education log of all training/education initiatives
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Strong computer and systems skills
  • Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, co-workers, referring physician groups, and radiologists
  • Required to obtain and maintain mRS and NIHSS certifications

Education Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing; valid registration as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado
  • Current Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association required

Compensation for this particular role is between $32.50 and $50/hr based on experience.

In accordance with Colorado law, the range provided is a reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Applications will be received on an ongoing basis and this position will remain open until filled.

Part-time employees may have access to some of these benefits, which may be on a pro-rated basis. Full-time employees will become eligible for benefits on the first of the month following 30 days of employment.
