RCDC is hiring a Billing Specialist at our Corporate Office. We are looking for an individual who can work closely with clinic and organizations leadership to provide a quality patient experience for our RCDC clinics.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

• Review bills and post & create claims to send to insurance.
• Review Invalid claims from clearing house and handle accordingly.
• Review Rejected claims from the insurance payers and handle accordingly.
• Post insurance payments from ERA file and paper EOB’s.
• Perform claims follow-up by working aged balances in accordance of timely filing deadlines.
• Coordinates re-submission of claims to payers electronically or via mail with coding & billing department personnel when follow-up indicates such an action is necessary.
• Review and process denials in the denial queue based on the claim information.
• Submits appeals with supporting documentation when situation warrants such action.
• Identifies denial trends and works with insurance payers to resolve issues. When situation warrants, enlists support of a supervisor in escalating issue/ concern.
• Ensures process issues (i.e. incorrect data entry upon patient registration) resulting in denials and/or claim delays are brought to the clinics attention to bring about necessary process changes.
• Gears daily activities to achievement of established collections goals. Identify issues that are hindering accomplishment of same. Works with supervisor to develop action plans to effectively deal with identified issues.
• Shares updated information from insurance payers to assist in ongoing training of department personnel.
• Proactively communicates with supervisor throughout the month regarding A/R follow-up activities and workflow priorities.
• Works credit balances related to insurance payers by notifying payers that suspected overpayments exist, obtaining refund request letters from payers, filling out refund request forms and pulling supportive documentation.
• Participates in department and organizational staff meetings.
• Observes office policy and procedures.
• Actively observes standards of conduct and participates in compliance program.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous medical billing required.
• Computer data entry experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as a team member.
• Strong computer skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
