OVERVIEW:

Job Title: Quality Control Manager

Location: Monroe County, Wisconsin (Fort McCoy)

Job Type: Regular -Full Time

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, some weekend work depending on the project schedule.

Performance Evaluated by: Project Manager

Purpose:Quality control is a preventative process in which emphasis should be placed on confirming clear understanding and contract compliance are in place before beginning production. The Quality Control Manager (QCM) should promote and manage quality control throughout the project to ensure that all construction activities meet or exceed the requirements found in the project plans and specifications. Generate and perform three-phase inspections for all scopes of work to guide self-performance crews and subcontractors in their daily construction activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: *RC will gladly provide reasonable accommodation to assist in performing these essential job functions so long as it does not create an undue burden.

  • Perform three-phase inspections preparatory, initial, and follow-up for all scopes of work associated with the project contract.
  • 1 Preparatory - Ensure that plans, specifications, addendums, additional drawings, and shop drawings are complete and approved with comments incorporated. Inspect submittals, materials, equipment, supplies, work areas, etc. before starting the task.
  • 2 Initial - Ensure all safety and installation procedures are being performed to the quality level stated at the preparatory meeting and in compliance with all contract documents. This inspection should take place within 24 hours of the work commencing.
  • 3 Follow-up - Subsequent inspection to ensure that the work is being performed to the quality level stated at the preparatory meeting and in compliance with all contract documents. These inspections should be more frequent if there is a concern regarding the quality of work.
  • Generate submittal register with dates in Procore within 30 days after the creation of the initial project schedule to ensure all materials and test data are obtained to meet the schedule demands and project document requirements.
  • Review submitted items to determine compliance with all contract documents prior to submitting for approval.
  • Compile a Testing Plan to encompass all required testing, including frequency, for each specification section listed in the project documents.
  • Produce a Quality Control Plan that meets project specification requirements and details RC’s strategy to deliver a quality product to the owner.
  • Produce daily reports for notable observations, including subcontractors on site, QC inspections, tests, person-hours, and equipment hours, utilizing Procore tools such as Photos, Daily Log, Observations, and Inspections.
  • Compile and review subcontractor daily reports to ensure logged activities meet requirements covered during three-phase inspections.
  • Coordinate with third-party testing lab to ensure advanced notice is given for upcoming testing requirements and all testing being performed follow project specifications and referenced testing standards.
  • Review and store a Testing Log with all quality control and quality acceptance data in Procore organized under the corresponding specification section folder.
  • Attend all project related meetings from the preconstruction to the closeout phase of the project to determine the owner’s expectations for quality control management.
  • Inspect all material deliveries to the project site to confirm the delivered materials match the submitted and approved materials.
  • Generate and submit Request for Information (RFIs) that correspond to the collaborative view of the issue that requires additional explanation.
  • Update any project documents in Procore that have changed due to a change event and transmit this change to all project personnel for questions.
  • Coordinate with Project Manager and Superintendent to ensure that all as-built data is accurately recorded electronically and all Procore mark-up/red-lines are updated when a change to the contract documents occurs.
  • Prepare ongoing, weekly, and final punch-list with the Project Superintendent, using the Punchlist tool in Procore, and make sure it is assigned to the appropriate party for correction to meet project demands.
  • Always interact with all onsite personnel in a professional, courteous, and civil manner.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with the Owner or Owner’s representative to promote seamless delivery of a quality product to the owner.

EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess Engineering Degree with five years of experience in heavy-civil construction or equivalent experience 0R graduate engineer, graduate architect, or a graduate of construction management with 2 years of quality control experience in heavy-civil construction.
  • Experience leading and managing a quality control staff preferred.
  • Must possess valid Driver’s License
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Military and Airport badge/pass.
  • USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors Certification preferred.
  • ACI Field Testing Technician Level I Certification preferred.
  • ACI Aggregate Testing Technician Level I Certification preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to –

  • Ability to occasionally lift and push/pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Be able to lift at least 50 pounds above your head.
  • Be able to walk long distances and stand on your feet for long periods.
  • Be able to stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and twist throughout the workday and week.
  • Be able to work full shifts in all weather and temperature extremes.
  • Be able to read, hear, and understand contract documents and specifications.
  • Ability to use hands to grasp, reach with arms, and move in and around confined and cluttered places and/or uneven areas.
  • Ability to climb up and down a ladder and balance.
  • Adequate vision abilities to perform all tasks by using close, far, and peripheral vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment as needed to perform job tasks.
  • Employee is regularly exposed to noise, dust, and various types of smells.
  • Employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles.
  • Employee must be able to use and handle toxic or caustic chemicals properly.
  • Employee is regularly exposed to wet, hot, and humid conditions, high, precarious places, and outside weather conditions.
  • Employee is expected to work safely and efficiently while maintaining a clean work area.
  • Employee must be able to use and handle toxic or caustic chemicals properly.
