Purpose

Act as lead operator for offset web press. Closely monitor quality standards for jobs and adjust production as needed to deliver the highest quality products. Monitor and perform and/or arrange for maintenance to the press to maintain superior performance.

Responsibilities

• Carefully review all job tickets and ask questions to verify information and achieve absolute clarity about the job production requirements.

• Work with production managers to order jobs and workflow based on deadlines, staffing, material availability, and other variables. Manage workflow efficiently and communicate any deadline changes or delays immediately to the production manager and appropriate customer service and production team staff.

• Review paper prior to job to ensure proper materials are used for production.

• Closely review color requirements and set-up ink to achieve those color requirements.

• Mount and check plates to ensure accurate and exact production standards.

• Operate the press following all steps required for production according to training and manufacturer recommendation. Run jobs according to specifications on each job ticket.

• Troubleshoot any problems during production and perform minor adjustments and repairs as needed.

• Clean and maintain equipment after each job.

• Follow all safety requirements and guidelines for press operation, including lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and other critical safety procedures.

• Complete all record keeping as needed for each job performed.

• Maintain maintenance record keeping.

• Assist with training of new team members.

• Supervise junior team members and press assistants.

• Minimize material waste whenever possible.

• Perform other duties and assumes other responsibilities as needed by the manager.
