Power your future with Qualus as a Civil/Structural Engineer. Our Civil Engineers partner with engineering teams to design civil infrastructure (site development, structures, foundations, etc) for new and existing substations, design and detail a variety of substation structures and their associated shallow and deep foundations. Additional substation specific designs include oil containment systems, rigid bus layouts, fence plans, cable trench plans, overhead transmission-type structures, etc. All work will be performed with emphasis on quality and project costs following client's requirements and internal company's quality control and quality assurance practices. Work includes applying industry codes and client standards to all designs.

Responsibilities
    Apply standard codes and industry standards for substation designs with a focus on civil site layout, grading, storm drainage (retention and/or detention ponds), roads, and environmental (oil containment and SPCC) and governmental permitting requirements. Design may be for both new and retrofits of existing stations.
  • The candidate will be responsible for the production of design calculations for drainage, structures, and foundations.
  • The candidate will be responsible for designing foundations using software such as LPILE and RisaFoundation.
  • The candidate will be responsible for developing structure models for rigid bus and equipment supports.
  • Must have the ability to analyze and interpret public agencies regulations and procedures.
  • Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, permitting agencies, and internal design teams.
  • Proficient with drafting programs such as AutoCAD and MicroStation a plus.
  • Participate in client meetings/job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and internal teams to produce cohesive substation designs.
  • Perform/Ensure company's Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes are been follow on all design packages.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience in foundation and structural design programs.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills (MS Office).
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of support personnel.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and care.
  • Highly motivated "self-starter".
  • Proven multitasking skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time and shifting priorities.
