Power your future with Qualus as a Drafting Technician. Drafters partner with our engineering teams in completing civil/structural design packages. They develop, implement and enforce CAD standards while providing technical support for CAD related software like AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil3D and/or Microstation. Having sound knowledge in grading/foundation/structure drafting principles and standards, we support engineers in developing grading and drainage plans, foundation plans and details, structural steel design and fabrication drawings, and more.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide production CAD support by developing, implementing, and enforcing CAD standards while supplying technical support for all CAD related software.
  • Prepare clean, complete, and accurate documents, design and working drawings (including details) from rough or detailed specifications or sketches as prepared by the engineer by performing the following duties:
    • Following drawing production standards.
    • Preparing Construction and Demo drawings (As required) submission packages.
    • Preparing quality checks on final drawings and layouts.
    • Cleaning CAD files for project closeout.
    • Set up project drawing files, schedule drawing completions.
  • Develop plan and detail drawings for grading designs, fence layouts, oil containment, road access, foundations, and structural steel using Auto CAD.
  • Modify existing raster files and create and maintain external references used across engineering disciplines.
  • Maintain CAD document archive and retrieval for projects and the integrity of the drawings and its system.
  • Check dimensions and parts, inserts cells and blocks into individual drawings.
  • Assist the Engineer with coordination and shop drawing review during the final administration of projects.
  • Organizes CAD drawings and files.
  • Creating and generating design reports to include creating material takeoffs, central files and work sets, and schedules and legend types.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or associate degree in Computer Science, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and its CAD systems to include all software options; Evperience in AutoCAD Civil3D.
  • Intermediate drafting and design skills.
  • Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to both work well in a team and independently.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to create aesthetically pleasing and useable drawings.
  • Effective presentation skills.
