Some of the things you will do as a Human Resources Specialist:

  • Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives that improve the employee experience, enhance workflow, and/or improve the work environment.
  • Coordinate and conduct orientation at multiple office locations.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Conduct appropriate credentialing for staff reference checking, abuse registry checks, sexual offender registry checks, OIG, and certification/licensure checks.
  • Answers frequently asked questions from employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
  • Prepare, distribute and collect new hire and benefits paperwork for processing.
  • Create and maintain accurate and secure active, inactive and confidential employee files and I-9 binder. 
  • Data entry of all employment related information as required.
  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of employee recognition programs.
  • Other special projects and duties, as assigned.

Qualifications for the HR Specialist

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of Human Resources experience preferred. 
  • Ability to drive to other office locations as needed.
  • Strong Microsoft Office (including Excel) skills.
  • Highest level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of organization and work well within a team environment in support of agency objectives.
  • Customer service oriented with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize, coordinate and simultaneously maintain multiple projects with high level of quality and productivity.
