qualified is Hiring a Desktop Technician Near Salem, VA

  • Windows Environment
  • Provides level II and advanced support to individuals at all levels in including executives experiencing problems with Desktop/Laptop hardware, printing, server connectivity, operating systems, related utilities and associated business and IT applications.
  • Installs, configures and maintains client operating system (Windows), in house and vendor applications and hardware according to defined IT standards and procedures. Works with new users to familiarize with company systems and procedures.
  • Responsible for reporting results (via standardized problem tracking systems), issues, and following escalation processes, SLAs, and escalating issues to the proper channels. Ensures that incident tickets are opened for all problems and requests
  • Provides significant contribution in system integration testing of operating systems, systems utilities, hardware upgrades as well as new software, hardware and technologies across Windows Operating systems.
  • Deploy new software and upgrades to software using an automated distribution system.
  • Manages corporate assets relating to hardware and software changes. Maintains inventory of all desktop related IT equipment.
  • Provides basic operational user support for voice communications systems including mobile devices as needed.

Decision-Making Authority/Accountability Level:

  • Performs relatively complex work under general supervision and exercises limited independent judgment in accordance with specified policies and guidelines.

Minimum Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer software including current Windows Operating System.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 2007/2010 products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Project, and Internet Explorer.
  • Experience with VMWare vSphere platform.
  • Intermediate to advanced level knowledge and understanding of hardware products, commercial off the shelf application and diagnostic and troubleshooting utilities.
  • Requires intermediate understanding of Windows 7.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory with technical support experience of OU structures, AD security, local and group policies.
  • Requires basic to intermediate understanding of networking and security, basic understanding of business issues, software development and key metrics facing the business.
  • Must be able to diagnose and analyze complex problems
  • Outstanding customer support/service skills as well as communication skills are essential.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
