Qualified Staffing is Hiring a Warehouse Material Handler (KR8412182918) Near Grand Rapids, MI
Do you have experience in a warehouse environment, receiving, order picking/pulling and shipping? Our client in the Grand Rapids area is looking for an experienced Warehouse/Material Handler for their 2nd shift operation. It#39;s a physical job! If you have never worked in a warehouse environment before, you should understand that you will be on your feet for 90% - 95% of your shift. Warehouse working conditions are impacted by seasons and the weather.
Employment: Temp to Hire
Pay: $18 per hour based on experience
Shift: 2nd, 4pm to 3:30am
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Overhead crane experience a must.
- Strong communications skills
- Ability to work well as a team
- General Warehousing experience preferred
- Experience in a high volume, fast paced environment
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload large steel products with overhead crane.
- Be able to read pull lists.
- Must not be afraid to climb stacks of steel or fit into small spaces while following all safety protocols.
- Unload incoming materials & returns of steel from rail cars and trailers with the assistance of overhead cranes
- Inspect and identify load limits of attachments, responsible for not exceeding the capacity of the cranes and/or lifting attachments
- Store and stack steel materials and band materials by using a mechanical or manual bander
- Block steel by using wood blocks
- Confirm the steel by comparing the material with the receiving information and mill tags
- Verify the dimensions by using tape measures, gauges and micrometers
- Examine product for flatness, straightness, rust and other defects not normal to steel standards
- Must be able to read receiving reports and bills of lading on incoming shipments
- Open bundles of steel by using band cutters or bolt cutters and separate the steel by a spring or other separating device
- Match the customer's order and material location and pull the correct material according to description, size and number of pieces on the packing list
- Bundle &/or package material according to customer specification
- Accurately fill material locations as needed
