Job Description

TITLE: Training & Development Officer REPORTS TO: SVP, Director of HR

DEPARTMENT: GO - Human Resources LOCATION: Quad Cities, Cedar Rapids, Des

Moines, or Springfield, MO

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and delivering training and staff development programs. The Training Officer will provide consulting, facilitation, and coaching with individuals, teams, groups, and leaders. This position will also provide support on the measurement of learning programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Researches and develops a long term training strategy for manager and employee development for the organization.
  • Formulates training policies, programs, and schedules, based upon knowledge of identified needs, company processes, budget, or changes in products, procedures, or services.
  • In coordination with other Human Resources staff members: develops, delivers, and/or facilitates soft skill training (customer service, supervisory/management, etc), which enhance internal and external customer relations, professionalism of staff, effectiveness of managers, and overall communication between bank staff members.
  • Designs, develops and facilitates curriculum for supervisory and manager training that will provide employee growth within the organization.
  • Conducts needs assessments as appropriate through communication with various department specialists to identify training programs which support organizational goals.
  • Works with all departments to define a “Request for Training” process and develop a training roadmap for the organization.
  • Works closely with HR staff to coordinate and design training for HR Information

System software program initiatives and system upgrades. Ensures programs are being utilized to their fullest capabilities and appropriately communicated to internal users.

  • Selects appropriate instructional procedures or methods such as individual training, group instruction, self study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role play, and computer-based training.
  • Develops teaching aids such as e-learning, training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works.
  • Continually assess the design of all training curriculum and methods to improve effectiveness.
  • Selects and/or develops testing and evaluation procedures to be used at completion of training.
  • Assists in identifying effective usage of external trainers when necessary, including the selection of appropriate and cost-effective sources, contract negotiations, and evaluation of services.
  • Develops and manages training tracking process for the organization. Provides a centralized streamlined approach for training recordkeeping requirements.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, education, instructional design, or adult learning or equivalent experience in adult learning field is required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in organizational development, adult learning, or human resources related role focused on learning and/or organizational development

(demonstrated application of designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating learning content).

  • Experience with planning, designing, developing, and implementing blended learning strategies.
  • Experience with and demonstrated ability to influence and/or lead teams and individuals to plan, adopt, and utilize comprehensive learning offerings while leveraging technology and blended learning content.
  • Experience in identifying, coordinating, negotiating with and managing external vendors.
  • Strong written communication skills that represent the bank in a positive and professional manner.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Capable of exercising discretion, applying common sense, and using independent judgment.
  • Excellent coaching, training and presentation skills, both in-person & virtually.
  • Strong organizational, time management, decision-making, and problem solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to manage and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to be available for work on a daily basis, and extended hours, as necessary.
  • Some travel required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
