Qawalangin Tribe of Unalaska is Hiring a Part-Time Youth Victims Advocate Near Unalaska, AK

Position Description:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our Culture and Justice team as a Youth Victim Advocate. In this role, you will provide crucial support and advocacy for youth who have experienced trauma, abuse, or violence. This entry-level position is located on the island of Unalaska and requires strong communication skills, empathy, and a commitment to serving the community.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Direct Support: Offer emotional support and crisis intervention to youth who have experienced trauma or victimization.

Advocacy: Serve as a voice for youth in navigating legal, medical, and social service systems to ensure their needs are met and their rights are being protected.

Education and Outreach: Conduct community outreach and education programs to raise awareness about youth victimization and available resources.

Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other professionals, including law enforcement, social workers, healthcare providers, and educators, to provide comprehensive support to youth and their families.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions, services provided, and progress made toward goals.

Crisis Response: Be available for on-call support and respond promptly to crises as they arise. Continuous Learning: Stay informed about best practices in victim advocacy, trauma-informed care, and relevant laws and regulations through training and professional development opportunities.

Cultural Healing: Coordinate the facilitation of culturally relevant traditional healing services for youth activities or workshops.
