Job purpose

· Manage the design team and PDM processes for North American operations.

· Support implementation of new CAD software and PDM (Solidworks) for North America while ensuring new systems and process are documented and followed.

· Train, mentor and supervise the design group as it expands due to global growth.

· Ensure both customer and manufacturing design issues are resolved while a continuous improvement and lessons learned environment is grown.

· Build a solid foundation for PWR’s growth into more Aerospace work respecting ITAR and AS9100 requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary

• Supervise 1-10 draftsmen/design engineers.
• Working with the global engineering team, ensure successful implementation of Solidworks PDM
• Complete design tasks as required by the design workload.
• Support the implementation of Solidworks from Creo Pareametric in the North America operation
• Document design process procedures to ensure consistency across the group for design techniques and other design outputs.
• Train and mentor team to become “Best in Class” design and Data Management team
• Adhere to AS9100, TS16949, ISO9001 and ITAR requirements and restrictions.
• Work with both customer and manufacturing teams to ensure design and drawing issues are resolved in a timely manner
• Build a culture of Engineering Excellence through lessons learned and continuous improvement

Required Qualifications/Education/Experience

· 5 years’ experience in a Supervisory role of design engineers or draftsmen.

· In depth knowledge of Solidworks/Solidworks PDM or equivilent.

· Experience with ITAR/AS9100/TS16949 working environments, requirements and restrictions.

· Bachelors in Engineering or equivalent experience.

· Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder

Working Conditions

· Position sometimes requires standing for extended periods of time

· May be exposed to machining center noise, oils in manufacturing area

· May be exposed to welding arc flashes and weld smoke in manufacturing area

· May be exposed to metal grinding noise, smoke and dust in manufacturing area

· 80% of the time will be in an office under florescent lights and on a computer

Physical Requirements

· Able to lift up to 40 pounds

· Bending, squatting, lifting and gripping are occasional activities
