City of Glendale (AZ) is Hiring an Administrator, Convention & Visitors Bureau Near Glendale, AZ

Salary $80,544 - $120,816 effective 7/1/2024.
Plans and implements Glendale's tourism and hospitality programs that promote the City as a destination for convention groups, visitors and events. Manages and coordinates the City's Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) programs and services to CVB members. Responsible for the implementation of the annual CVB business plan and budget. Business plan includes initiatives and strategic plans for bolstering convention business, increasing membership sales, managing the CVB membership program, advertising and marketing campaigns, and statistical data for Glendale tourism.
  1. Manages convention and visitor services including but not limited to writing and submitting formal bids to compete for conventions, administering and tracking databases and reports, managing mobile information centers and related marketing, advertising and public relations.
  2. Manages, plans and implements Glendale's tourism and hospitality programs that promote Glendale as a destination for visitors, conventions and events. Involves implementing convention and visitor services including but not limited to managing the National Sales Division, writing and submitting formal bids to compete for conventions and city-wide mega events, administering and tracking data and preparing reports, fulfilling visitor information requests, developing familiarization tours for meeting planners and travel writers, and facilitating all marketing, advertising and public relations.
  3. Manages the Glendale Visitor Center operation that includes the fulfillment of requests for travel information and brochures for prospective travelers and convention groups. 
  4. Manages and operates the Glendale Convention & Visitors Bureau, including the development and implementation of the annual CVB business plan and budget, convention sales, member programs including benefits fulfillment; manages and monitors division and project budgets; provides reports as needed.
  5. Supervises the work of all assigned staff and volunteers and provides guidance and training as needed to fulfill CVB objectives and initiatives.
  6. Coordinates and participates in CVB advisory committee meetings whereby committee members assist in making recommendations for programs and initiatives that will increase tourism for the City of Glendale.
  7. Serves as project manager for all tourism ad and marketing campaigns for digital and print media used to promote Glendale as a tourism destination.
  8. Develops and implements advertising and marketing strategies and action plans to attract convention groups and tourists to Glendale under the direction of the department Deputy Director.
  9. Serves as the liaison and participating committee member for the valley-wide CVB Consortium that focuses on valley-wide tourism initiatives and city-wide mega-events.
  10. Develops relationships with agencies in the tourism and hospitality industry through meetings, attending industry networking events, and participation in promotional activities and events.
  11. Oversees and maintains reports for any grant program used to promote convention business and tourism for Glendale.
  12. Facilitates all procurement procedures necessary for services and advertising purchases for the CVB operation.
  13. Oversees and maintains applications, reports, and budgets for any grant program used to promote convention business and tourism for Glendale, including all aspects of the Arizona Office of Tourism's Prop. 302 tourism grant program.
  14. Oversees the development, creation, writing and implementation of the Annual Visitors Guide, "Lure" Brochure, and electronic media used to promote Glendale.
  15. Interprets and enforces department policies, procedures, and regulations.
  16. Contracts with outside organizations to conduct market research; conducts surveys and research designed to evaluate the effectiveness of the city's tourism programs.
  17. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Advertising, Public or Business Administration, Tourism, Public Relations, Journalism, or Marketing and three years' experience coordinating tourism programs.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
Special Requirements
Valid Arizona driver's license upon hire.
May be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
