 We are currently seeking an Inspector (1st Shift) at our South Windsor, CT Facility.

Purpose/ Summary

To perform all aspects necessary that the required inspections are used in the manufacturing of Machined, Tubes and Sheet metal components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Inspect products using various inspection gages, coordinate measuring machine (CMM), scales, and visual inspection prior to product shipment.
  • Perform complex geometric layout inspection using standard variable gaging and relative mathematics.
  • Develop CMM programs for inspection of complex hardware.
  • Variable data collection and completion of inspection records.
  • Prepare and submit first article inspections to customer requirements.
  • Reconcile final inspection documentation for shipments.
  • Interact with Government and Customer Source Inspection Representatives.
  • Verification of certifications and testing of incoming raw materials.
  • Function as Designated Quality Representative for various customers to release products for shipment.
  • Must be capable of completing all requirements of the applicable customer quality portal.
  • Examine material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and other surface irregularities. 
  • Compare product with applicable parts list or sample model to ensure completion of assembly. 
  • Verifies dimensional compliance of all products with drawing and customer requirements. 
  • Authority to reject, identify and segregate nonconforming product. 
  • Disposition of nonconforming parts.
  • Authority to stop production as necessary to prevent creation of nonconforming products. 
  • Interprets engineering drawings and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards. 
  • Performs in-process inspection and testing of products throughout the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with all applicable mechanical and process related requirements.
  • Responsible for real time reporting of priority initiatives.
  • Provides leadership to the quality department and trains and assists lesser skilled inspectors.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blueprints. 
  • Ability to read and apply Geometric tolerancing determined by blueprints.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before employees in the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Strong math background demonstrating the ability to using and understand basic formulas.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram forms.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Observes all Company policies, rules, and regulations including good housekeeping, safety and security.
  • Must be able to understand and follow instructions in English.
  • Must be able to understand and interpret customer drawings and engineering sketches.
  • Ability to perform complex layout inspections.
  • Must have demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft WORD and EXCEL
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures, work instructions and customer required records.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.

  • The noise level in the work environment varies, and hearing protection is required in specific work environments.

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to thirty (30) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
