Department: Machining

Shift: 2nd (3:30pm -11:30pm)

Pursuit South Windsor CT is looking for a Department Lead that will oversee the Machining department. This role will be a working lead. 

Purpose/ Summary

•  Responsible for being a resource and center of expertise to guide and collaborate with new and current associates. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

•  Able to identify issues and recommend solutions.
• Must interact with employees at all levels and possess good interpersonal skills.
• Excellent understanding of all customer requirements pertinent to responsible area.
• Ability to operate or learn CNC Lathe’s and train other employees is required.
• Able to motivate and lead their team.
• Assists and supports Business Unit Manager with monthly build plan.
• Assists the Business Unit Manager with conducting disciplinary action.
• Enforces Pursuit Policies and Procedures as defined in the Employee Handbook.
• Drives Kaizen across flow lines, applies lean principles and one-piece flow to meet business needs.
• Continuously ensures that work environment is free of safety hazards and compliant with OSHA regulations. Also leads monthly department safety inspections.
• Maintains area, equipment, and tooling in a neat, orderly condition including operator maintenance sheets.
• Observes all Company policies, rules, and regulations including good housekeeping, safety and security.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job does have supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Must be a strong team leader.
• Demonstrates a flexible style; receptive to changes in ones work environment.
• Must have superior analytical skills.
• Basic computer and MS Office Skills (Outlook, Excel, Word)

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience working with planning ERP systems.
• Ability to operate and set up CNC Lathe
• Comfortable with public speaking

Kaizen Requirements

• Willing to identify and capture process improvements through application of Kaizen.
• Comfortable and effective implementing change in an organization.
• Participate in Kaizen workshops on and off site.
