TITLE: Special Process Engineer - Chemical

DEPARTMENT: Engineering/ Whitesboro, New York/ On-site

POSITION SUMMARY: The Special Process Engineer - Chemical develops and controls the company special processes with the goal of producing defect free parts. The scope of responsibility includes, but is not limited to, chemical milling, etch & prime, descaling, and blue etch anodize processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Develops new processes from concept through customer certification and production implementation.
• Specifies equipment for purchase or in-house build, writes control procedures and establishes control limits for new and existing processes.
• Establish procedures, controls and monitor processes, tests and appraises material, conducts studies, experiments and evaluations, maintains records, and performs other such duties required to assure conformance to Pursuit Aerospace and customer requirements for special processes.
• Obtain and retain Nadcap, AS9100 and AS13100 certification for applicable processes.
• Responsible for identification and implementation of safety countermeasures for responsible processes.
• Monitors process and ensures abnormalities are correctly identified and cost-effective solutions are implemented.
• Review and assure compliance with customer blueprints, specifications and other technical documents.
• Operate and maintain systems which assure products and processes are tested and certified as conforming to all customer requirements.
• Compile information, coordinate testing, and issue reports to obtain customer approval for manufacturing processes.
• Provide advice and counsel to other departments in regard to dimensional, material, chemical, heating and other technical subjects related to special processes.
• Work as required with customer or supplier representatives to assure all quality requirements are satisfied.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The preferred candidate will have some experience in one or more of the following processes and be motivated to learn the rest: heat treating, chemical milling, etch & prime, descaling, and blue etch anodize processes. This position requires solid problem-solving skills with a commitment to continuous improvement. Must be detail oriented and organized with good communication skills to interface with all members of the organization as well as customer representatives. Strong computer skills required. Familiarity with Nadcap programs a plus.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in material science, metallurgy, chemistry, chemical engineering or related technical area is required. Knowledge of statistical process control desired.

EXPERIENCE: Position open to early career (0-3 years) or experienced engineering candidates (3 years). Job grade at hire and salary will depend on experience.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $70,000 - $90,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, education, and geographic location.
