Purity Integrative Health & Wellness Center is Hiring a Medical Assistant Near Kalispell, MT

We are a small company that is focused on providing patient focused care and with an owner that strives to provide work-life balance for all employees. We need someone who is flexible with all aspects of a clinic. Must be punctual and have great customer service skills. Under general supervision, the Medical Assistant (MA) will assist the medical and front desk staff by performing delegated tasks that involve direct patient care; technical procedures or monitoring that may be invasive and require skills validations; transportation of specimens; ordering and stocking of supplies; and maintenance of special equipment, including sterile equipment and set-ups. The MA role will include coordinating the clerical activities and supporting the front desk activities for patient care in the clinic. Participates in clinic and selected divisional activities to promote effective problem solving and communication.

CLINIC FLOW ACTIVITIES

  • Ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean and ready for patients.
  • Maintain and use supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner.
  • Prepare medical record for clinic visit. Verify presence of medical records and diagnostic testing (lab work and images) prior to scheduled appointments, requesting existing records and x-rays as necessary.
  • Effective communication skills- verbal and written.
  • Coordinate communication flow in the clinic including answering and directing telephone inquiries to the appropriate individual.
  • Provide basic telephone screening per clinic protocols and recognize emergent/urgent problems and direct to the physician.
  • Obtain prior authorizations
  • Send referrals
  • Triage patients and return patient calls.
  • Take initiative to maintain patient flow for assigned providers.
  • Transport patients and lab specimens.
  • Schedule appointments for patients.

PATIENT CARE ACTIVITIES

  • Prepare patient for examination by the provider. Observe and document the patient’s physical and emotional condition and vital signs in the medical record, recognize and report symptoms of common medical illnesses to physician.
  • Perform delegated patient care activities/education in accordance with established standards of practice.
  • Assist during patient examinations and procedures performed by health care professionals.
  • Perform procedures including ear irrigation, suture removal, and sterile dressing changes.
  • Will require venous blood draws.
  • Will give injectable medications.
  • Will assist with Purity Aesthetics laser machines and become certified to use them.

CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TEAM BEHAVIORS

  • Greet patients and families.
  • Review patient needs with providers daily, preferably at the start of each day.
  • Advocate for the patient/family by locating appropriate staff to address concerns.
  • Demonstrate an atmosphere/attitude of respect for human dignity and the uniqueness of each person encountered in the clinic setting.
  • Promote and protect general safety for patients/families/friends and co-workers through adherence to correct procedures, timely communication of messages and test results, and appropriate consultation.
  • Act promptly and effectively during an emergency situation.
  • Maintain/improve own professional competence, knowledge and skills to meet identified self-learning needs and annual review requirements.
  • Apply appropriate policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice in performing duties.
  • Support development of clinic and divisional efficiency and effectiveness through participation in quality assessment and improvement activities.
  • Demonstrate support for clinic and divisional policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board;

Equivalent education/experience.

Legal Requirement: Must be Montana State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation during the training period. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment.
