Job Summary: At Purdue Polytechnic High School (PPHS), staff members are referred to as 'Coaches' because we believe that learning is most effective when students are at the center of their learning experiences. Students take an active role in their learning as Coaches provide rigorous content, encouragement, opportunity, and support towards students becoming innovative problem solvers, skilled communicators, and mindful collaborators. Coaches plan, develop, and facilitate core content using project-based learning (PBL) strategies, including industry and/or local partnerships. At PPHS, we manage student academic success through 1-on-1 coaching, engagement with available internal/external resources, and parent interactions.
Responsibilities & Duties: - Provides coaching and support for student academic growth and achievement
- Plan, develop and facilitate core content using PBL strategies
- Assess and use success metrics to iterate and improve students learning experiences
- Provide academic management support within a daily advisory
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and community partners in a co-taught, interdisciplinary instructional setting
- Develops, delivers, and assesses projects aligned to the relevant PPHS content area outcomes
- Collects and analyzes student data to support instructional decisions
- Develop meaningful and supportive relationships with students
- Maintain positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, & community partners
- Engage students in academic conversations that elicit critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication
- Provide appropriate accommodations, modifications, and interventions for English Learners, students with 504 Plans, and Special Education students
- Serves as an active participant in professional development opportunities offered by PPHS
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills: - Bachelor's Degree
- Current Indiana Teaching License required
- 2 years working in classrooms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate and work well in a team
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
Work Environment: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight ( up to 20lbs).
