Job Goal: To perform cashiering and meal tracking activities for the District Food Services Department through the utilization of the Point-of-Sale (POS) software program; handling cash transactions accurately; and maintaining all sales activity and cash payment reports relevant to the position.
This position is Monday through Friday, 11:00am to 1pm, when school is in session.
Essential Job Functions:
Must be able to:

Set up Point-of-Sale station(s) prior to meal service; verify start-up cash
Operates POS software to track customer cash and account transactions in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures
Monitor and accurately record meal count data for state reporting and food service planning purposes
Process daily cash payment and purchase updates and reports
Reconcile cash drawer with daily sales report
Assist in the monitoring of student and staff account balances at the Point-of-Sale and enforce department policies related to account purchases for accounts not in good standing; follow up with Food Services Assistant as necessary
Assist in the promotion and positive representation of the Food Services Department and the National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
Performs and other duties as assigned by the Food Services Coordinator and/or the Food Services Assistant/Wellness Coordinator
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication
Demonstrated skills in maintaining thorough and accurate records and ability to meet deadlines
Demonstrated accuracy in basic math and cash handling
Ability to work both independently and in a team setting; must be a self-starter
Strong skills in the operation of general office equipment including, but not limited to, computers, printers, copy/fax machines and calculators
Strong skills in the use of common office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and e-mail
Ability to create and use data for maintaining department records
Demonstrated skills in positive human relations and cultural competence
Demonstrated skills in problem solving and conflict management
Demonstrated ability to:
work collaboratively
carry out emergency/crisis response procedures
perform all computer technology tasks associated with the position
maintain confidentiality
communicate positively/effectively with students, parents, staff, patrons
