POSITION PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Director of Security Engineering, the Junior Information Security Engineer will be responsible for information security infrastructure maintenance, configuration, and implementation. This role will work closely with Senior Security Engineers supporting engineering, design, maintenance, upgrades and implementation of PTC security applications, hardware, and processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

• Working with Senior Security Engineers, responsible for providing support in solving all phases of complex information security related technical problems.
• Reviewing and recommending information security solutions to customer problems based on an understanding of products/systems test results.
• Conducting system security implementation, system engineering, design assurance, testing, program design, configuration management, integration and testing of information security products and techniques.
• Implementing, managing, and troubleshooting of Enterprise Cybersecurity systems.
• Analyzes the work process, making recommendations to improve the work-flow efficiency and/or operation productivity.
• Provides management with risk assessments to uphold enterprise security measures. Informs management of critical issues that may affect clients and completes status and statistical reports in assigned area as required.
• Establishes, maintains, and monitors at a technical level all security policy and access rules defining specific access to network, files, and database management systems under one Zero Trust methodology.
• Recognizes and identifies potential risk areas to existing system security policies and procedures and implements remediation findings.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Experience and entry level understanding for a wide variety of cybersecurity systems, technologies, and vendors in a production environment including but not limited to DNS, Splunk, Crowdstrike, ZScaler (ZIA, ZPA), PKI.
• Knowledge at an enhanced level of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and zero trust requirements
• Knowledge at an enhanced level of deploying security technologies including but not limited to software and hardware integration to existing environments.
• Ability to understand technical manuals, software specifications, hardware principals of operations, and general methods of systems software operations and security.
• Ability to communicate effectively dealing with internal and external customers and suppliers.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
• Accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to handle many tasks and procedures concurrently.
• Problem analysis skills that can be applied in a complex environment.
• Effective documentation and organization skills
• Enhanced understanding of data processing concepts on multiple platforms
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
• Experience in recommending security enhancements.
• Knowledge of risk assessments and testing of systems
• Ability to provide 24-hour on-call support as necessary.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

BA or BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field desirable. Advanced degree desirable.

0-5 years of education or progressive experience in computing and information security, including experience with Internet technology and security issues.
