Job Summary:

As a material handler at Metal-Matic, you will perform duties to transport various types of parts and materials within the plant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

1. Conducts safety inspection of load slings, cranes and forklift before operating. Reports all concerns to shift Supervisor/Department Manager.
2. Operates overhead crane and forklift with utmost care and safety.
3. Does not move loads over employees' heads.
4. Hook and unhook all lifts of material so that lifts are balanced properly.
5. Communicate with machine operators to insure timely delivery and removal of material to ensure maximum through put.
6. Check bundle tag information to verify that it matches the order requirements at the machine needing material.
7. Check Apollo scheduling System to insure the next order is ready for Machine Operators. If it is not, reports it to shift Supervisor/Department Manager.
8. Dumps all scrap and rubbish boxes into large Hoppers.
9. Using Manual and Power banding tools; assist in the banding and boxing of tubing.
10. Refer concerns about tubing quality or equipment conditions to the shift Supervisor/Department Manager.
11. Communicate with employees on the other shifts regarding the status of operations, equipment and special assignments, etc.
12. Maintain a CLEAN, ORGANIZED, and SAFE work area.
13. Various other duties as directed by shift Supervisor/Department Manager.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements: 

Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, and/ or walk, and/ or use arms and hands to load and unload material for extended period of time. Must be able to safely lift and load 50lbs. The employee must also be able to work outside in a variety of conditions. Candidates must be able to tolerate any climate, must be flexible with shift and hours.
