Psychiatric Institute of Washington is Hiring a HIM/MEDICAL RECORDS CLERK Near Washington, DC

Responsibilities:

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses. PIW is a 130 bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency. PIW has an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff, experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare. Situated in the safe, historical Tenleytown neighborhood, PIW is one mile from the Tenleytown Metro stop and within walking distance to local cafes and restaurants.


BASIC FUNCTION
:
Performs all clerical functions necessary to file, retrieve, copy and distribute medical records. Performs various clerical duties as required. Receives/analyzes/completes all mail, phone and walk-in requests for confidential medical information from attorneys, insurance companies, patients, physicians, etc. Externally this position interfaces with patients, attorneys, auditors, insurance company representatives, other medical facilities, researchers, physicians, and patient case managers. Internally this position interfaces with physicians, nurses, and hospital management.

Qualifications:
This is an internal job openeing.
  • High school graduate with some college desirable. Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Record Technology and credentials highly preferred. Hospital experience necessary.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills.
  • Minimum typing (word processing) skills of 55 wpm preferred.
