Summary

Under general directive supervision, performs clerical work pertaining to service, street, payroll, meter room and general clerical operation; prepares reports.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Performs duties such as :

  • Checking ordering specifications, verifying invoices and checking warranties on Repair Part and Maintenance Orders;
  • Preparing and maintaining house heating records and reports, such as installation and removal records; preparing work orders for periodic servicing;
  • Preparing and processing miscellaneous records and reports for Service and Street Departments; determining costs of work done;
  • Keeping daily, weekly and monthly records of work done and preparing summaries and reports; maintaining production and Cost reports;
  • summarizing information for monthly work reports;
  • Preparing reports and compiling data on billing jobs for work done at the expense of others; compiling costs for Deposit Agreement Refunds;
  • Preparing applications for street opening permits issued by Civil Government Authorities;
  • Making detailed record drawings and diagrams; making revisions to drawings and wall maps; making sketches and tracings;
  • making field sketches of main and service work, as directed;
  • Preparing accident reports and computing charges for claims;
  • Classifying and checking time sheets; maintaining payroll record cards; preparing payroll recommendation forms; maintaining non-confidential personnel records;
  • Preparing payroll data by performing operations such as, completing payroll vouchers and labor distribution cards;
  • Maintaining record of vacation schedules, preparing vouchers for vacation pay advances;
  • Preparing Repair Part and Maintenance Orders on manufacturers and suppliers;
  • Preparing auditors charges and interchanges, preparing requisitions on Purchasing Department;
  • Processing invoices, applying proper account classifications, checking discounts;
  • Preparing and processing various miscellaneous storeroom records and reports;
  • Checking meters received and shipped, checking and accounting for meters set, removed and changed by employees;
  • Preparing monthly meter and regulator reports; taking and preparing meter and regulator inventories;
  • Disbursing petty cash, preparing petty cash statements and reports; making bank deposits and withdrawals;
  • Assigning to employees working with them duties appropriate to their job classifications;
  • Receiving reports of urgent complaints from customers, Company employees and others;
  • Performing other similar or less skilled work of the occupational group.

Job Qualifications

Must meet the Company’s requirements as to general qualifications; must have all the qualifications of a Clerk and in addition :

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have at least one year of experience as Clerk or the equivalent;
  • Must have demonstrated aptitude for and ability in the performance of the duties of Clerk;
  • Must be able to work accurately with figures;
  • Must be able to use drafting instruments, do free hand lettering, and make detailed drawings of street construction work;
  • Must know the Company’s safety rules applying to the work;
  • Must be able to receive and pass on orders and instructions in a manner that will maintain harmony and safety and obtain satisfactory work results from employees assigned to work with them and in their charge.
  • Must possess a valid U. S. driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record
