About The Role
As a Data Engineer at Proxima, you will be at the forefront of shaping and optimizing our data infrastructure. This role is pivotal, and will inform architecture, best practices, timelines and business and operational decision making. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you'll implement technical solutions that drive efficiency of our data processes, and troubleshoot and resolve issues.

What You'll Do

• Strategize, design, and automate high-volume, batch, and real-time ETL pipelines on AWS.
• Design and execute test plans to validate the accuracy and completeness of data.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, data analysts, BI developers, solution architects, and dev teams.
• Deploy backend production processes with a focus on high availability, robustness, and monitoring.
• Build and improve workflow orchestration tooling to support efficient data pipelines.
• Establish data data quality assurance steps for new and existing pipelines
• Work with various external APIs to read and enhance data
• Implement sustainable source code management tools and repositories.
• Troubleshoot issues promptly, working directly with internal data consumers
• Actively participate in team discussions about technology/architecture/solutions for new projects.
• Collaborate on improving existing code and pipeline efficiency.

What You Need

• 5-8 years of experience in data engineering, modeling, data processing, and data warehousing
• Proficiency using advanced languages and techniques with (Python, Scala, etc.) with modern data optimized file formats (Parquet,Avro).
• Deep knowledge of AWS technologies, including S3, RDS, Redshift, AWS Glue, and more.
• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and provisioning tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins).
• Hands on coding experience, including unit testing, test-driven development, and querying and manipulating data in relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• A competitive understanding of data structures and types, data transformation, validation, and data performance tuning.
• Proficiency with SQL on RDBMS, data warehouse solutions like Redshift and Data Lake technologies
• Experience supporting ML/AI projects: deployed pipelines for computing features and using models for inference on large datasets.
• High empathy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to find compromise working across the entire engineering org
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science

$160,000 - $200,000 a year
The base pay for this position ranges from $160,000 to $200,000 a year. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including individual performance, skills and experience. The base salary is just one component of Proxima's compensation package which includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision and other benefits, as well as equity.
