Accounts Receivable Specialist

This role resides within the Revenue department and, like all of our billing positions, cross-trains in all areas of our Billing Department. We value staff that are knowledgeable and able to deeply understand and assist with all areas of the billing cycle. We provide on the job training for all of our candidates that are driven to learn new skills. This position is for entry level and experienced applicants alike! However, we are ideally seeking a candidate with at least 6 months of experience in a clinical or medical office setting.

AR Specialist Wants:

  • Previous experience in Medical Accounts Receivable or Medical Billing background
  • Comfortable talking to patients and assisting with their questions
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Attention to detail
  • Respectful to others / team oriented
  • Ability to follow up with team members on action items sent out

Would like but not necessary as it can be trained:

  • Be able to verify if an insurance policy was active or not

AR Specialist Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answer patient billing statement questions
  • Collect patient payments
  • Process and send out patient statements
  • Prepare and send out past due collections letters
  • Track and Send patient accounts to collections
  • Post insurance and patient payments
  • Billing copay assistance programs
  • Reviewing claims for denials and submitting information to appropriate team members for review and correction.
  • Submitting claim disputes
  • Processing refunds
  • Tracking metrics and trends on claims and denials
  • Possibly submitting corrected claims for minor corrections

General Skills Candidates will possess:

  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks
  • Ability to think critically and look for ways to streamline and increase efficiencies
  • Ability to Train and Cross-train in Multiple Revenue Tasks
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a Fast-paced Environment
  • Organizational skills
  • Experience with Excel Preferred
  • Professionalism, confidentiality, and organizational skills Required.
  • Typing skills Required
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication
  • Warm and Positive Professional Attitude
  • Detail-Oriented

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent Required.
  • University/college degree preferred.
  • Previous medical office experience of at least 6 months Preferred.
  • Preference for candidates with at least 6 Months of Experience in a Medical Office Setting.

Rate of pay based on experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
