This is a working supervisor role that provides leadership and training to production employees in a manufacturing environment by maintaining consistent flow of work in process, the safety of team members, and motivation to others within the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Ensure production personnel adhere to safety precautions and wear the appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Implement, manage, and train on Inventory Management Systems.
• Cross Train and be prepared to perform duties as back-up for the essential functions of the Production Supervisor in their absence.
• Exhibit proficiency with mixers, pumps and tanks in all batch making areas and packaging equipment.
• Supervise bulk receiving of raw materials as needed.
• Be able to operate the automatic batching and bulk storage systems. (Back-up for the essential functions of the Supply Chain Assistant)
• Track and effectively communicate progress of batching and packing as it relates to production schedules.
• Conduct and report accurate cycle counts.
• Expertly operate equipment independently and follow all safety precautions.
• Train and motivate team members effectively.
• Create accountability for day-to-day activities of the R-Guard production team, including, but not limited to, time management, attendance, and performance standards.
• Manage Performance Actions such new hires, promotions, disciplinary actions and terminations in coordination with the Production Manager and Human Resources.
• Be willing to learn, adopt and utilize innovative technologies as implemented.

• Handle hazardous waste according to training to include proper waste management, container labeling and dating, and following storage requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned, if qualified, to meet business demands.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Must be able to effectively communicate with management and other team members.
• Responsible for communicating production goals to Production personnel.
• Responsible for issuing lockers to new employees.
• Responsible for ensuring new employees obtain uniforms.
• Responsible for resolving employee issues through problem resolution.

• Must be able to anticipate, recognize, and evaluate hazardous conditions.
• Must be self-motivated, dependable, flexible, and able to keep up with production demands.
• Must show initiative and be willing to resolve problems.
• Exhibit accuracy and thoroughness during all stages of product manufacturing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to occasionally carry, lift and/or move up to 65 lbs.
• Ability to safely operate forklift and pallet jack.
• Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of computer software programs and office equipment.
• Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand.
• Ability to hear and understand the speech of another person.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time; stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.

WORKING CONDITION & ENVIRONMENT

This position requires exposure to various compounds in a production environment. Exposure to dust, vapors, gases, chemicals is probable and personal protective equipment is required. Plant is not an airconditioned environment but is equipped with adequate air flow handling equipment and ventilation system. The plant is heated during the winter months.

EDUCATION – CERTIFICATION

College degree in manufacturing or business management preferred. Six Sigma certified preferred. Forklift certification. High school diploma and 5 or more years of experience in similar manufacturing management required.
