This is a hands-on supervisor role that provides leadership and training to production employees in a manufacturing environment by maintaining consistent flow of work in process, the safety of team members, and motivation to others within the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Ensure production personnel adhere to safety precautions and wear the appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Implement, manage, and train production personnel on use of Inventory Management System.
• Cross train and be prepared to perform duties as back-up for the essential functions of the R-Guard Production Supervisor in their absence.
• Exhibit proficiency with mixers, pumps and tanks in all batch making areas and packaging equipment.
• Supervise bulk receiving of raw materials as needed.
• Be able to operate the automatic batching and bulk storage systems. (Back-up for the Supply Chain Assistant)
• Track and effectively communicate progress of batching and packing as it relates to production schedules.
• Conduct and report accurate cycle counts.
• Expertly operate equipment independently and follow all safety precautions.
• Train and motivate team members effectively.
• Create accountability for day-to-day activities of the production team, including, but not limited to, time management, attendance, and performance standards.
• Manage Performance Actions such new hires, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations in coordination with the Production Manager and Human Resources.
• Be willing to learn, adopt and utilize innovative technologies as implemented.

• Handle hazardous waste in accordance with established procedures to include proper waste management, container labeling and dating, and following storage requirements.

• Responsible for issuance of personnel action items, including but not limited to, new hires, terminations, performance evaluations, and time off request approvals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to occasionally carry, lift and/or move up to 65 lbs.
• Ability to safely operate forklift and pallet jack.
• Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of computer software programs and office equipment.
• Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand.
• Ability to hear and understand the speech of another person.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time; stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.

WORKING CONDITION & ENVIRONMENT

This position requires exposure to various compounds in a production environment. Exposure to dust, vapors, gases, chemicals is probable and personal protective equipment is required. Plant is not an airconditioned environment but is equipped with adequate air flow handling equipment and ventilation system. The plant is heated during the winter months.

EDUCATION - CERTIFICATION

College degree in manufacturing or business management preferred. Minimum high school diploma and at least 5 years of supervisory experience in a similar manufacturing environment required. Forklift certification. Six Sigma certified a plus
