Other operating room assistant duties include setting out the surgeon's instruments, getting new ones if needed, and ensuring that the patient's body temperature is appropriate.

They also remove the used instruments, replace the bedding and make sure that all operating surfaces, counters and sinks are cleaned and sterilized.

The assistant might have to apply bandages, ointments, and medications when the surgeon completes the surgery.

Minimum Qualifications :

• High School Diploma certification in OR operations preferred or experience as a Nurse Aide
• Basic knowledge of CSPD process
• BLS certification
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer service & application of BronxCare Value Service Principles
• Strong collaborative skills to work as a team
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to structure work assignments, prioritize for prompt results
• Maintain confidentiality
