Summary:
Project HOPE is lookingfor a Media Communications Intern. TheIntern will provide research, writing, and logistical support to Health Affairs'communications team of Project HOPE. S/he/they will gain valuable knowledge andexperience about how a peer-reviewed health policy journal interacts with thenews media as well as with communications departments at the institutions thejournal's authors are affiliated with. S/he/they will also gain a deeperunderstanding of specific humanitarian crisis as well as NGO, UN and USGresponses.

Responsibilities:
Update media databases
Draft media advisories
Assist with scheduling media interviews with Health Affairs authors
Create a Health Affairs Scholar outreach plan for reaching university communications officers
Other duties and tasks as assigned
Learning Outcomes:
Knowledge about how media outreach is conducted
The ability to draft a media news release
A unique "behind-the-scenes" look at how a health policy journal comes together every month and how its contents is shared with different audiences
An understanding of how promotion plans are put together and what's important
Qualifications:
Add additional qualifications specific to internship
Current undergraduate, incoming undergraduate, or recent high school graduate planning a "gap year"
Strong research, writing, and editing skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize various tasks in a fast-paced work environment
Ability to work effectively and accurately with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and internet applications
Ability to work productively in a team environment as well as under minimal supervision, taking the initiative to ask questions as needed
Demonstrated interest in health, health policy, medicine, science, or related fields
