SUMMARY:

Project HOPE is partnering with SAMU to provide mental health related activities to migrant youth arriving from the borders and transitioning at the shelters in Maryland and Washington DC. Project HOPE will provide youth mental health training for SAMU staff in addition to the implementation of direct Psychosocial Support (PSS) sessions with youth temporarily residing at the shelters.

The anticipated duration of this consultant assignment will be mid April through end of June 2024.

PRINICIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The deliverables that will be expected to be performed successfully are:

  • Work closely with the technical advisor and program manager to adapt and design youth mental health awareness sessions and PSS activities targeting migrant youths at shelters.
  • Deliver at least 1 PSS activity weekly targeting youth and their parents.
  • Support the design and implementation of Monitoring and evaluation tools
  • Work with other departments to make sure all activities and materials are in compliance with best practice.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social work, Mental Health Nursing or related fields.
  • 3-5 years' experience in youth targeted mental health activities.
  • Knowledge of learning methodologies and training content development
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication skills, both orally and in written format in English and Spanish.
  • Working experience with international and humanitarian organizations
