Project HOPE Foundation is Hiring an Internal: Behavior Technian Specialist, Anderson Near Anderson, SC

As a member of Project Hope Foundation (PHF), the Behavior Technician Specialist, RBT, works as
an integral member of the therapy team implementing ABA programs, reporting to a Hope Reach
Supervisor. The Behavior Technician Specialist, RBT, works on client teams under the supervision
of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) providing support in implementing and achieving
client-specific goals and provides mentorship to RBT team members. This role interacts with
internal employees and families providing input and support that aligns with the organization’s
mission, vision and goals. The only nonprofit provider of ABA therapy in Upstate South Carolina,
Project Hope Foundation offers a range of programs designed to meet the needs of our more than
200 clients, creating a culture of compassion and commitment to providing high quality services.

Standard work hours occur between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday (35-40 hours
per week). Opportunities for growth are available.

Direct Service Job Responsibilities (i.e., direct implementation of a service with clients):

  • Implementation of direct 1:1 sessions with an individual with autism within the clinic in a
    fast-paced session to build skills, following an individualized plan prepared by that client’s
    team Supervisor
  • Implementation of group or 2:1 services for clinic location
  • Implementation of services in non clinic based locations (homes, schools, community, etc)
  • Implementation of generalization and probing techniques
  • Model sessions for new hires to demonstrate exemplary pairing/rapport building,
    programming, and behavior reduction procedures
  • Modeling of advanced skill acquisition and behavior reduction curriculums for other RBTs
    (i.e., SBT)
  • Assist with fill in needs within the clinic
  • Participate in regular team meetings for clients
  • Fluently demonstrate programs during team meetings
  • Teach replacement responses for difficult or disruptive behaviors
  • Create a fun, engaging environment for clients, using each individual’s motivations to
    promote meaningful learning opportunities and experiences
  • Collect data on clients’ progress and goals during sessions using a tablet provided by PHF
  • Completion of all clients’ goals on a regular basis, prioritizing programs with lower rates of
    completion and keeping up with tracking on skill checklists
  • Ongoing improvement as demonstrated through organization competencies
  • Provide support to parents, teachers, and caregivers through the modeling of appropriate
    interactions

Indirect Service Job Responsibilities (i.e., administrative time away from implementation of adirect session with a client):

  • Create and/or collect necessary program materials to implement client programs
  • Other administrative duties assigned by the client's supervisor
  • Implement behavior support or other clinic coverage duties (ie. opening/closing duties,
    bathroom breaks, lunch coverage, leading circle times, etc)
  • Overlap with other team members to collect data and to work with the BCBA/BCaBA to
    ensure treatment integrity
  • Communicate with fellow therapists and BCBA/BCaBAs regarding client programs
  • Participate in ongoing training to maintain certifications and further develop best clinical
    practices
  • Attend quarterly paid trainings
  • Collaborate and coordinate with all internal program leadership associated with PHF
  • Model exemplary behavior both clinically and professionally; set a good example for attending to the needs of the clinic, exemplify leadership as it pertains to the Specialist role, put forth effort to promote positive morale

Job Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in the RBT position
  • Minimum of 3 months experience in the RBT position with Project Hope Foundation
    demonstrating organizational understanding and clinical excellence
  • Represents and upholds Project Hope Foundation’s mission and core values
  • High School Diploma or the national equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC)
  • Certified as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
  • Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities, preferred
  • Positive attitude and ability to work within a team environment
  • Ability to prioritize and carry out multiple tasks and projects in a changing work
    environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliable transportation and car insurance
  • Willingness to travel to and from one of our clinic, school, or clients’ homes within 30
    minutes of your location
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and actively engage with children in multiple settings
  • Able to successfully be trained in a variety of data collection platforms; proficient in Central
    Reach and Google Suite
  • Clear background check and TB test
  • Shows interest in opportunities to advance within the organization; furthering relevant education and continuing education within the field (Preferred)

If enrolled in coursework to pursue a BCaBA or BCBA certification, restricted hours may be tracked while in this position.
