As a territory sales representative for commercial lines, you'll travel to independent agencies within your territory to assist with managing, upselling, and obtaining referrals. You’ll meet in-person to influence agencies to market Progressive services and products, while also providing marketing strategies. Additionally, you’ll prospect for new agencies in the territory. You’ll be provided a company vehicle, phone, laptop, and company card.

Territory: Chicago, Rockford, Quincy, Alton, Bloomington, IL and surrounding communities. Candidates must be able to travel to and meet with all agencies within this geographic area. There is overnight travel with this position (approximately 6-8 nights per month).

Home office location: Must reside in Chicago, and surrounding communities

Must-have qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field of study (Marketing, Business Management) and three years of outside business to business sales experience
  • Instead of a degree, five years of outside business to business sales experience or five years of experience in the property and casualty field
  • Compliance with Progressive’s driving standards and/or policy
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance

Preferred skills

  • Demonstrated outside business-to-business sales experience
  • Ability to work independently – prior experience in a field-based role
  • Ability to use formal and informal networks to accomplish goals
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with a customer relationship management tool (i.e., Salesforce)

Compensation 

  • $91,000 - $111,000/year
  • Gainshare bonus up to 30% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
