PROFESSIONAL PLASTICS is Hiring a CNC Programmer Near Orchard Park, NY

Title: CNC Programmer

Department: Manufacturing

Reports To: Director of Manufacturing

Classification: Non-Exempt

Position Type: Full-Time

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following, as well as other duties that may be assigned.

  • Program vertical and horizontal mills and lathes
  • Ability to perform CNC setup on vertical and horizontal mills and lathes when necessary
  • Analyze drawings, sketches and designs to determine the best program and process to manufacture precision parts
  • Write setup instruction and tool list to optimize setup time
  • Observe operation of machine on trial run to improve program cycle time
  • Create job travelers and manufacturing operations from material and hardware to outside process

Minimum Qualifications: To perform the job successfully, the individual must have the following minimum qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; Able to use and read basic measuring devices (measuring tape, calipers, etc.)
  • To perform this job successfully, the individual should have knowledge of design software and manufacturing software, as well as standard office programs.

Education and Experience:

  • 5 years Mastercam experience
  • Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experienced in CNC setup
  • Experienced with Onsrud routers
  • CNC machine certification a plus

Must be able to work and collaborate with colleagues, be “hands-on” and be able to handle multiple tasks in a multi corporation environment.

Communication Skills: Engaging in effective communication verbally and in writing. Presents information clearly and in an organized manner. Adjusts vocabulary and formality according to audience and purpose.

Mathematical Reasoning: Performing computations and solving mathematical problems. The ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.

Attention to Detail: Focusing on the details of work content, work processes, and final work products and selects critical details to focus on.

Adaptability: Responding positively to change and modifying behavior as the situation requires. Adjusts quickly to changes, versatile in shifting roles, welcomes new or unfamiliar situations.

Ethics: Keeps commitments; works with integrity. Presents company image and professionalism at all times.

Self-Management: Shows personal organization, self-discipline, and dependability.

Safety and Security: Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions. Knows and adheres to all safety practices of the trade and workplace.

Mechanical Knowledge: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Work Environment (Office and Warehouse/Machine Shop): The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to office equipment and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however certain areas of the work environment may have elevated noise levels and require hearing protection.
