University Home Care is seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Medicare Skilled Home Care Intake Specialist to join our team at our Livonia, Michigan location. This is a full-time, hourly position in the healthcare/medical field. As an Individual Contributor, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the intake process for Medicare skilled home care services. You will work closely with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate enrollment in our program.
Compensation & Benefits:
The Medicare Skilled Home Care Intake Specialist at University Home Care will receive a competitive hourly rate of $17 to $22 per hour, paid semimonthly. In addition to this competitive compensation, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional development and growth.
Responsibilities:
MUST Have 1 YEAR Experience 
- Facilitate the intake process for Medicare skilled home care services by working closely with patients, families, and healthcare providers
- Gather and review necessary documentation to determine eligibility and medical necessity for skilled home care services
- Communicate with insurance companies and other third-party payors to obtain authorization for services
- Coordinate with our clinical team to develop and implement customized care plans for each patient
- Educate patients and families about Medicare coverage and our services
- Ensure all necessary paperwork and documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate and organized electronic records of all intake activities
- Collaborate with other members of the team to streamline processes and improve overall efficiency
- Adhere to all Medicare and Medicaid regulations and guidelines
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to stay up-to-date on changes in policies and procedures
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, some college coursework in healthcare or related field preferred
- At least 1 year of experience in healthcare intake or related role, specifically with Medicare and/or Medicaid
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems
- Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations and guidelines
- Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients and families
