Professional Business Development Group is Hiring a Member Engagement and Marketing Coordinator Near Portland, OR

Position Title: Member Engagement and Marketing Coordinator

Duration: Full Time, Ongoing, Hybrid

Compensation: 50,000-$60,000 per year depending on experience; generous and progressive benefits including medical and dental care 100% of premiums paid by PBDG, three weeks of PTO. The IRA contribution match of 3% is after 1 year.

About Professional Business Development Group: PBDG’s (Professional Business Development Group) primary purpose is to improve the business conditions in the construction industry by increasing Preparation, Competitiveness and Relationships. PBDG members are women and minority construction contractors and professional services firms in the construction industry that share PBDG’s goal. PBDG was organized by its members with the recognition that, despite years of efforts, DMWESB construction and professional services contractors in the construction industry remain greatly under-represented which negatively impacts the productivity, efficiency, and vitality of Portland Contractors and the construction industry as a whole.

As a 501c6 trade association for minority-owned, women-owned and certified firms in construction. PBDG operates a technical assistance program through its Foundation.

The PBDG Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that operates the Construction Business Training And Plan (TAP) Center. The Center provides wrap-around, construction specific, technical assistance services to meet participants where they are and build a long-term foundation for their business. They also work with other nonprofit organizations and business community partners to provide owners with access to valuable resources.

Overview:

As the Member Engagement and Marketing Manager, you will be instrumental in strengthening connections and fostering a thriving community within our organization's small business membership segment. Your primary focus will be to engage small business members, understand their unique needs, and facilitate opportunities for collaboration, networking, and growth. This role requires a proactive and personable individual who is passionate about supporting small businesses and driving meaningful engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Outreach and Relationship Building:
  • Proactively reach out to small business members to welcome them, introduce membership benefits, and establish rapport.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with small business owners, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders through personalized communication and engagement initiatives.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with members to gather feedback, address concerns, and identify opportunities for support.
  • Engagement Strategy Development:
  • Collaborate with the membership team to develop targeted engagement strategies tailored to the needs and interests of small business members.
  • Plan, support and execute events, workshops, webinars, and networking opportunities designed to connect small business members, facilitate knowledge-sharing, and promote collaboration.
  • Identify and leverage digital channels, social media platforms, and online communities to enhance member engagement and participation.
  • Build and maintain social media communication on all mediums appropriate
  • Update website including current events, stories, videos.
  • Engage with office and programming staff to prepare content for website and social media usage focusing on class and event registration.
  • Write and publish compelling content to promote PBDG work and partner engagement.
  • Build a brand map and strategy to be used throughout the organization.

  • Resource and Support Provision:
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for small business members, providing guidance, resources, and referrals to address their business challenges and needs.
  • Curate and disseminate relevant content, tools, and educational resources to empower small business members and help them succeed.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to offer specialized support services, mentorship programs, or business development opportunities for small businesses.
  • Retention and Growth Initiatives:
  • Develop retention strategies to ensure ongoing satisfaction and loyalty among small business members, including personalized follow-ups, recognition programs, and value-added benefits.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team and/or consultant to create compelling campaigns and promotions aimed at attracting new small business members and promoting membership renewals.
  • Analyze membership data and engagement metrics to track trends, measure engagement initiatives' effectiveness, and identify improvement areas.
  • Administrative Support and Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of small business member interactions, event attendance, and engagement activities using CRM systems or membership databases.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to small business membership processing, invoicing, and dues collection.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and summaries to communicate key insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders and leadership.
  • Create and execute an annual fundraising appeal via social media and engagement.
  • Manage the annual GiveGuide winter campaign.
  • Oversee 3 annual fundraising events including logistics, sponsorships and attendance.
  • Coordinate with the Office Manager and PBDG team in executing events and fundraising efforts.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the knowledge and abilities is qualifying. All non-traditional education, training and experience will be evaluated.

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, communications, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Previous experience in customer service, member engagement, or community management, preferably in a small business environment or association.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and connect with small business owners and entrepreneurs.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail, with the capacity to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in using CRM (Salesforce) software, email marketing platforms, and social media management tools.
  • Proficient with technology including word processing, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, social media, Zoom/Google Meets
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for supporting small businesses and driving positive outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
