OVERVIEW

PriorityOne Group, a leading full-service company specializing in repair and maintenance, is seeking a full-time Service Manager. This role is pivotal in managing field operations for services including refrigeration and cooking equipment. We serve a diverse clientele, including restaurants, QSRs, convenience stores, and more. This position requires daily travel from your home in a fully-equipped company service vehicle.

JOB SUMMARY

As our Service Manager, you will be at the forefront of our field operations, directly managing our skilled technicians and interacting with customers and internal teams. Your responsibilities will include overseeing service orders, providing technical support, handling customer escalations, and ensuring efficient service delivery. The role demands a high level of technical and leadership skills to maintain and enhance our service standards.

  • Pay Range: $75,000 - $100,000 per year based on experience.
  • Schedule: While PriorityOne Group operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, our Service Managers typically work Monday to Friday between 7:00am and 5:00pm. The role also requires occasional after-hours availability.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Leadership and Supervision: Directly manage a team of technicians, focusing on their preparation and readiness for service tasks. This includes one-on-one coaching, offering technical training, and providing field-based learning through "ride along" exercises to enhance technical competencies, safety practices, and customer service skills.
  • Customer and Technical Support: Engage directly with both customers and technicians to provide expert advice, troubleshoot issues, and resolve challenges promptly. This role involves significant face-to-face customer, vendor and technician interaction aimed at building strong relationships and driving customer retention through superior service and support.
  • Operational Management: Oversee the execution of service orders, tackle logistical and technical challenges, and work closely with the business development team to identify and leverage sales opportunities. Support the Dispatcher in managing technician schedules and ensure seamless communication between the office and field teams.
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular reviews of work orders to assure quality and compliance with service standards. Develop and refine service protocols to uphold high service standards consistently. Manage emergency situations with efficacy, focusing on customer satisfaction and safety. Evaluate and improve technician performance based on operational metrics.
  • Sales & Business Development: Focus on achieving sales targets and enhancing productivity and utilization to meet profitability goals. Implement strategies to grow and retain market share through top-tier customer service and proactive sales initiatives.
  • Recruiting: Drive the recruitment process by sourcing and identifying potential candidates for technician roles. Utilize local recruitment methods and strategic sourcing to build a pipeline of qualified candidates for future openings.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in equipment maintenance and repair, particularly in HVAC, Refrigeration and Cooking.
  • Strong technical and electrical skills, including the ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency in using information technology tools like computers, tablets, and smartphones.

Standout Qualifications

  • Proven leadership skills, with extensive experience in managing technical teams and multi-unit operations, complemented by advanced training and certifications in HVAC and refrigeration.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities, adept at selecting, hiring, and developing teams, with a capacity to effectively handle and resolve issues under pressure.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with excellent prioritization and follow-up capabilities, ensuring efficiency and team cohesion.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, essential for maintaining high standards in field operations management.
  • Previous business-to-business sales experience, demonstrating an ability to drive sales and business development initiatives effectively.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; must pass a drug screening and adhere to a random drug screening policy.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position is suited for individuals who are physically fit and capable of handling the rigorous physical demands of managing field operations in diverse environmental conditions. Safety protocols must be rigorously followed to prevent injuries and ensure efficient and effective operations. The Service Manager role requires a blend of office-based tasks and active fieldwork, including but not limited to:

  • Frequent Travel: The role requires frequent travel in a company-provided vehicle to various job sites, including both indoor and outdoor locations.
  • Heavy Lifting: You must be capable of regularly lifting and maneuvering heavy equipment and tools, with occasional lifting requirements of up to 50 pounds. This includes transporting, installing, and maintaining commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Environmental Exposure: Work environments may vary, exposing you to extreme temperatures. You will be required to perform tasks both indoors and outdoors, which may include working in hot kitchens or cold storage areas and being exposed to weather conditions such as rain or snow.
  • Physical Activity: The job entails standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing during field operations. You will need to be physically able to navigate tight spaces and work at varying heights.
  • Manual Dexterity: High level of manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate tools and components finely. This includes adjustments, repairs, and detailed technical tasks that require precision.
  • Stamina and Endurance: Due to the on-call nature of the work and the necessity to handle emergency repairs, the role requires stamina and endurance to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
