Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Objects Developer to join our team for a contract position in Midtown Manhattan, NY. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing and maintaining reporting structures, Business Objects Universes, SQL queries, and reports to support the Financial Management System (FMS) project and ongoing business needs. This individual will play a crucial role in empowering our client, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), with timely and accurate data for budget, financial, and accounting matters.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain reporting structures, including data structures, Business Objects Universes, SQL queries, and reports to support the FMS project and ongoing business needs.
• Collaborate closely with vendor query and reporting teams, as well as internal reporting organizations, to ensure compliance and consistency in reporting strategies.
• Provide guidance and leadership to business staff and other team members in the use of query and reporting tools.
• Assist in establishing and maintaining query and reporting environments.
• Participate in the design, development, testing, implementation, and support of required reporting structures, queries, and reports.
• Maintain detailed documentation for query and reporting design and development for the FMS project.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong reporting development background in a large data warehouse environment.
• Extensive command of Business Objects Architecture.
• Excellent business analysis skills with the ability to interpret business needs.
• Proficiency in end-to-end Business Intelligence systems architecture.
• Hands-on proficiency with Oracle SQL, SQL Server, PL/SQL (DB2 a plus).
• Experience in balancing multiple tasks with critical timelines.
• BO Java SDK Development experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of ETL processes, tools, and Data Warehousing Architecture & Design.
• Ability to assume responsibility and work with little direction.

Experience:

• Minimum 7 years of hands-on development experience working with Business Object XI (R3.1- R4.1 a Must – R4.2 a Plus).
• Strong background in relational database technologies – Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, and writing SQL, PL/SQL.
• Good understanding of SDLC having worked through at least one full iteration of a complete SDLC on a major large-scale project including reporting, ETL, and data warehousing.
• Quick learner with the ability to understand and become a SME in business data definitions and requirements.
• Experience in working with senior business managers.
• Self-starter with the ability to work on directives with little supervision.

Education:

BA in MIS, Computer Science, or related field from a recognized college or university, or equivalent work experience.
