About This Role:
Provide excellent customer service in person and by phone.
Check materials in and out, create library cards, place requests for materials, and interpret library policy.
Answer requests for information using library resources; recommend reading materials and library services.
Handle cash, prepare, maintain, and update records and run reports.
Assist patrons with the use of on-site technology including computers, printers, copiers, and fax machines. Assist patrons using library digital resources and patron's personal devices (tablets, phones, and laptops).
May provide Passport Acceptance Service to patrons.
Participate in library events in-house and in the community.
Create displays to encourage circulation.
Participate in branch or system planning committees and meetings.
Minimum Requirements: 8th grade education
Preferences:
Experience working in a library, retail, clerical or help desk providing face to face customer service in a public setting.
Scheduling flexibility
Experience working independently and in a team environment.
Experience using software and databases.
Experience using library apps, office equipment and personal devices.
Cash handling experience.
Experience using and troubleshooting standard office equipment: computers, fax machines, and copiers.
Experience using Microsoft Office (TEAMS, SharePoint, MS word, Excel)
Special Requirements: The position may require travel to other branches within the system. A DMV check will be conducted for employees who drive while on County business.
Work Schedule:
This is a part-time, non-exempt 20-hour a week position. Library hours of operation are Monday-Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Thursday-Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Schedule may vary depending on the needs of the library. Weekend and evening work are required.
Starting Salary Range: $18.94- $24.27
