 The Prince George's County Government Department of Health is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Nurse Practitioner I/II position, grade A23/A25, within its Family Health Services / TB Division.

 About the Position:  
This is entry to full level specialized professional community health nursing work providing a range of health services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment and on-going clinical management of patients in a public health setting. 
Direct services may include physical examinations, laboratory screening tests, therapeutic treatment, patient and family education, counseling, referral and clinical duties as defined according to the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) Advanced Nursing Practice Act.What You'll Do: 
 
  • Obtains a comprehensive health history from patient or family, records findings and makes critical evaluation of patient health status. 
  • Performs a detailed examination and assessment on patients and discriminates between normal and abnormal findings. 
  • Evaluates and reviews findings with physician and decides which patients need additional care either within or outside the scope of Health Department services. 
  • Identifies and manages acute and chronic illness in accordance with established medical protocols. 
  • Provides emergency care or crisis intervention in the absence of the physician.
What You'll Need: 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduation from a National League for Nursing accredited college or university or an equivalent program as determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing examiners with a Bachelors Degree in nursing and/or a Masters Degree in public health, community health nursing or other appropriate nursing specialty, plus/and
  •  Successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner Program; 
  • Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse License issued by the Maryland Board of Nursing or compact state as appropriate.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the Master's Degree, but not for the successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner Program.

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Epic EMR patient records experience
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Upon selection, the candidate must: 
  • License must be current
  • Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse License issued by the Maryland Board of Nursing or compact state as appropriate. 
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license when required for job-related duties. 
  • Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency. 
  • Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties.
DURATION OF ELIGIBILITY: Candidates will be selected from a temporary register of eligible candidates, which will become effective approximately four (4) weeks after the closing date. Once a selection has been made, the register will expire.
