Role Description
Primetals Technologies is currently seeking an individual to fill the position of General Manager to lead the successful startup of a new Primetals Technologies US location in Calvert, AL. The General Manager will lead a team of approximately 50 operations positions, consisting of exempt, non-exempt and hourly employees.

GENERAL MANAGER
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Establish a successful business partnership with AM/NS Calvert
- Ensure the highest in customer satisfaction through quality workmanship, commitment to deadlines, delivery of solutions and a positive, attentive dedication to the customer’s needs
- Committed to successful leadership through accountability, team building, and knowledge sharing
- Dedicated to meeting Company financial goals while reinforcing Company values
- Directs the activities of Operations, EH&S, and Quality staff members
- Responsible for training and development of those employees in the Operations group
- Develops and recommends operating policies and procedures
- Directs maintenance and manufacturing to maximize profit
- Defines and recommends maintenance and manufacturing objectives; develops specific short- and long-range plans and programs together with supporting budget recommendations
- Directs the preparation of specifications for quality, quantity, delivery and service required for the purchase of equipment, supplies and materials to meet contractual obligations, production schedules and quality standards
- Ensures prompt delivery of service to customers
- Formulates and installs standard production practices based on comparative studies of methods, costs and production figures
- Directs preparation of cost control reports and cost estimates
- Acts as the primary contact for customers
- Identifies opportunities for continued growth
- Formulates service programs to educate customers in the maintenance of equipment
- Ensures that personnel maintain good will with customer
- BS in Manufacturing, Engineering or a related field
- A minimum of 15 years of combined engineering, project management and people-management experience, within the steel or related industry
- Leadership – A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others
- Management – The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
- Planning – The ability to think ahead and plan over a 3-5-year span of time
- Problem Analysis – Resolution at both a strategic and functional level
- Strong Customer Orientation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
