About the Role

The Sr. Payroll Specialist is pivotal in ensuring seamless processing of in-house payroll for over 900 employees, adhering to pertinent personnel policies, collective bargaining agreements, and state/federal regulations. Collaborating closely with the human resources team, this role also ensures compliance with FLSA and DOL regulations.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional customer service skills, strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and thrives in a synergistic productive work environment.

What You Will Do

  • Manage end-to-end payroll transactions with precision and timeliness.
  • Maintain precise employee records, handling tasks like new hire onboarding, tax forms, direct deposit changes, and benefits administration.
  • Oversee weekly timecard reviews for field employees, ensuring accuracy and adherence to schedules.
  • Process sick leave requests and expense reimbursements for field employees.
  • Conduct routine payroll audits and respond to payroll-related inquiries promptly.
  • Generate weekly certified payroll reports, monthly union reports, and other payroll documentation as needed.
  • Organize and maintain payroll documents, facilitating efficient retrieval and filing.
  • Assist in audits, verification of employment (VOE) requests, and unemployment claim responses.
  • Stay updated on regulatory guidelines, prevailing wages, and union agreements.
  • Address field inquiries promptly and effectively.
  • Support internal and external audit processes related to payroll.
What You Will Need to be Successful
  • Experience in Union Payroll processing within the construction sector
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
  • Proficient in federal, state, and union regulations, with familiarity in Electrical IBEW regulations being advantageous.
  • Expertise in payroll tax deposits, quarterly and annual filings, and relevant forms (941, 940, W2, etc.).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of interfacing across all organizational levels.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in a high-volume environment.
  • Self-motivated and performance-driven, with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, adaptable environment.
  • Experience with Viewpoint VISTA Software is a plus.
