Primavera Online School is Hiring a Dean of Credit Recovery Near Chandler, AZ

Our Dean of Credit Recovery will assist and support the 9-12 Director in providing overall instructional and administrative leadership necessary for increasing academic achievement and school effectiveness. This position will also oversee the credit recovery process for students who fail a core subject area course.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist the 9-12 Director to develop and implement a credit recovery program that utilizes research-based strategies and activities to enable 9th-12th grade students to recover credits while also developing the academic skills and habits of mind needed to reintegrate successfully into grade-level coursework.
  • Assist the 9-12 Director design and implement broad initiatives to build more community resources and program options for college readiness.
  • Collaborate, communicate, and support teachers and counselors with the implementation of the credit recovery focus and initiatives.
  • Prepares and implements incentive programs, data monitoring tools, and resources for staff, students and families, and assists school staff in planning and implementation of interventions.
  • Support the development of a local pathways roadmap that provides adult learners access to support from high school completion and general education through career technical education to local workforce opportunities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop and implement strategies and/or intervention plans for improving student success in the online learning environment.
  • Maintains accurate records of students’ academic needs, and monitors student performance and progress, including data collection, tracking, and reporting of student progress in the areas of attendance/engagement, behavior/discipline, and state/local academic performance measures.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other administrators, counselors, and community-based organizations to coordinate activities and programs and exchange information.
  • Actively participate in the multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) process.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate intervention programs that address the needs of at-risk students.
  • Collaborate with the Student Intervention Team to identify and address the needs of students requiring additional support or intervention.
  • Increase teacher capacity to use tiered interventions to improve student learning.
  • Actively engage with students through virtual platforms to address concerns, provide support, and foster positive relationships.
  • Monitor virtual classrooms to ensure student safety and security during online learning sessions.
  • Provide direction to various faculty, staff, and student programs and services; participate in formal and informal classroom visits and observations; provide recommendations and suggestions for improvement as appropriate.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and staff members to address concerns, share updates, and promote a positive school culture.
  • Facilitates parent orientations, information sessions, and other collaborations.
  • Serve as a liaison between students, parents, and school administration to ensure effective communication and resolution of issues.
  • Conduct conferences with parents, students, and teachers to provide support and address concerns regarding student success.
  • Establish clear expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication with stakeholders.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff, providing feedback to teachers to improve student academic outcomes; observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences with staff.
  • Coach staff and help them identify and develop appropriate professional goals and identify growth opportunities as well as accomplish improvement goals, recognizing them for efforts and achievements.
  • Work collaboratively with departments to ensure alignment among curricula, assessment, instruction, and college-ready benchmarks and assessments
  • Collect, analyze, and respond to student performance data in pursuit of school-wide, grade-level, and course-specific goals;
  • Supervise school-wide testing; collaborate with other members of the administration to schedule proctors and provide communication and support regarding state testing to all stakeholders
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of designated certified personnel; assign duties to faculty and staff as appropriate to meet school objectives; assist with the recruiting, interviewing, and selection of new faculty and staff.
  • Participate in administrative meetings and training to improve administrative skills; maintain current knowledge of the school’s adopted curriculum.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Training:

  • Arizona Principal Certification or currently enrolled in an administrative certification program
  • Bachelors required (Masters preferred)
  • Arizona 6-12 Teacher Certificate Required
  • 3-5 years of experience in a school setting (charter or independent preferred)
  • Teaching experience at the secondary school level preferred
  • Experience in credit recovery program preferred
