JOB DESCRIPTION
ERCOT is seeking an experienced Application Architect/Developer with experience with web and cloud native development to join a current project designing and developing a Java based Content Management System. Architects, Designs, develops, tests, documents, and maintains applications to meet business needs based on the ERCOT defined Software Development Life Cycle. Works closely with Architects, Customers, Business Area subject matter experts, team members and other internal technical teams to design, prototype, develop and maintain complex ERCOT applications. Performs proof of concepts to evaluate and prove out Architecture options. Uses toolsets that adhere to the frameworks of the technical stack complying with the organization's architectural standards.
JOB DUTIES
  • Develop front-end website architecture
  • Develop back-end architecture and application changes
  • Develops prototypes to prove out Architectural changes
  • Work with the Architecture, Development and Business teams to investigate impacts on upcoming projects and enhance the existing CMS system
  • Understands and applies principles, theories and concepts related to the profession and ERCOT's culture.
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Impact is generally limited to specific assignments or projects.
  • May respond to inquiries and provide assistance and guidance to other team members
ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES
  • Focusses on forward looking changes to the application to simplify the Architecture and allow for easier maintenance
  • Serves in the role of a senior developer providing guidance to development teams
  • May schedule work, train, mentor, and/or coach other team members
  • Conveys team goals effectively through strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Has the ability to resolve design and development issues in creative and effective ways
  • Conducts all phases of product development lifecycle, including the analysis, design, testing and integration of products
  • Participates in component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, product evaluation and buy vs. build recommendations
  • Conducts component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, and product evaluation
  • Researches, evaluates, and incorporates new technology and tools to enhance the product development process
  • Gives advice and recommendations to management for the Architecture options and transition plans
  • Advises and guides several key groups in the company to ensure quality product delivery (example, project managers, application and technical architects, usability engineers, other development groups, business end users, and external users as appropriate)
  • Expands technical proficiency in key technical areas
EXPERIENCE
  • Requires minimum 10 years related work experience in excess of degree requirements
DESIRED SKILLS
  • Programming experience with Java, SQL
  • Design and Development experience with Spring, Camel, and Junit frameworks
  • Design and Development experience with REST API's and SOAP Web Services
  • Design and Development experience with Elastic Search
  • Experience with modern deployment patterns using Git, Maven, Jenkins, Ansible
  • Cloud native development in private cloud (Docker, Kubernetes) or public clouds (AWS, Azure)
  • Development and Design Experience with Relational Databases (Oracle, SQL Server)
  • Source control systems (GIT)
  • Web front-end technologies (JavaScript, CSS, HTML, React, Angular, etc.)
  • Visualization (PowerBI, High Charts)
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's Degree: Computer Science or related field (Required)
  • or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
Work Location:
  • This position can be performed remotely from anywhere in the US.
  • May be required to be on-site at the Taylor facilities occasionally based on the business needs and as determined by the Manager
