Job Description
At Square, the Communications Infrastructure team builds platforms that deliver billions of messages every month to Square merchants and customers.
Reporting to the engineering manager for the communications infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our backend services and infrastructures to help our product teams send messages to their customers.
We enable multi-channel (email, sms, push, and voice call) real-time messaging through well defined APIs. We support a wide range of use cases such as marketing messages, transactional messages, mission critical messages, and more. We take pride in ensuring relevant messages reach our customers quickly and reliably at scale while complying with security and compliance requirements.

You will:

• Reliably guarantee the delivery of hundreds of millions of messages per day
• Scale our systems to meet ever increasing demand
• Leverage data to optimize delivery
• Design APIs and the underlying data models used by many apps and microservices
• Collaborate with stakeholders to support new product and feature launches
• Contribute to development of shared resources and libraries

Qualifications
You have:

• 2 years industry experience
• Innate curiosity, growth mindset, and passion for creating products that are beautiful inside and out
• Software development experience in one or more general purpose programming
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $135,200 - USD $202,800
Zone B: USD $128,500 - USD $192,700
Zone C: USD $121,700 - USD $182,500
Zone D: USD $115,000 - USD $172,400
