Summary Description

The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for operational support, enhancements, and project activities in managing Dolby’s cloud infrastructure. In this role, you will be part of Dolby’s cloud functional operational team focused on expanding the Fintech attitude and assisting in developing the service based on event-driven processes using architecture principles. You’ll be part of the team responsible for designing and architecting complex multi-cloud infrastructures. You are expected to know how to use tools of the trade, including various modern programming languages and frameworks. The experience in this role with working with AWS services such as EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, API gateway, EC2, CloudWatch, Route53, IAM roles/policies, etc., is expected. Have a passion for technology and can navigate across complex and rapidly changing landscapes by staying on top of the latest trends and thriving by sharing knowledge.

This role will also have oversight over more junior members of the team and will provide technical guidance on work deliverables. This position reports to the Director, Global Infrastructure.

Essential Job Functions

  • Design and implement solutions in a performant, cost-effective, and secure manner, using industry knowledge and experience to continuously assess the environment and drive improvements that use the latest technology

  • Provide technical guidance and educate team members and coworkers on operational processes that fit in a multi-cloud infrastructure

  • As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you are used to setting the course and can successfully navigate the organization by leading effective conversations with higher-level managers, functional managers, and teammates to develop existing infrastructure that meets product, system, and operational requirements

  • Perform engineering job duties as assigned, including coding, optimizing performance, and provide troubleshooting and resolving issues in our pre-production and production environments

  • Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations in different cloud environments

  • Help automate and streamline our operational processes

  • Ensure cloud performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards for code quality and thoughtful design

  • Manage cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines

Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Education Required

  • 5 years of professional experience in the above-mentioned areas

  • Good understanding of cloud infrastructure development processes

  • You are very familiar with keywords such as Cloud Governance, IaaS, PaaS,

  • SaaS, Dev “Sec“ Ops, Containers, Cloud-native, CI / CD Pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, Terraform, Ansible, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Security, as well as Windows & Linux

  • Already gained experience in multi-cloud environments (MS-Azure / AWS / Google)

  • Good scripting skills (Ansible, Python)

  • Experience with CI/CD and understanding of containerization principles and frameworks (Kubernetes, Docker)

  • Good understanding of how the internet and web applications work

  • Independent way of working as well as creativity, the ability to work in a team, and a confident manner

  • You have one or more of the following certifications:

    • AWS - DevOps Engineer

    • AWS - Solution Architect Professional / Associate

    • Microsoft AZ-300 & 500

    • Microsoft AZ-400

  • Strong root cause analysis skills, investigation, diagnosis, and reporting

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) VPCs, subnets, route tables, IGW, VGW, and EC2 is a strong requirement.

  • Experience managing large-scale global projects involving team members in multiple regions.

  • Solid understanding of ITIL processes; ITIL Foundations certification is nice to have.

  • Strong analytical skills, ability to research and test solutions, and vital planning and project coordination skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills (in English).

  • Excellent communication, listening, and customer service skills.

Job Expectations

  • Travel for business as required

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to interact is required. This is necessary to enable meetings with team members in other regions, including the need to perform a later schedule often (e.g. until 8pm European time) to allow for more interaction with the team in the San Francisco (US office).

  • Perform tasks assigned by the immediate manager to complete performance objectives and assist team members as needed.

  • Assists team members as needed.

The Atlanta Area base salary range for this full-time position is $129,700 - $158,500, which can vary if outside this location,plus bonus, benefits, and some roles may also include equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
