Position:

CGS is currently seeking an experienced HSE Officer to join our operations team for an equipment maintenance and preservation project in the Jacinto Port and Free Trade Zone area, Houston. This position is required for an immediate start and will be full time working 40 hours per week Monday through Friday.


Requirements:

Your day-to-day tasks include:

  • Conducts safety surveys, inspections, and audits to evaluate safety related needs in order to make recommendations.
  • Inspect work sites to evaluate safe work practices and working conditions.
  • Maintain safety and health related records and documents.
  • Ensure safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) is in good working condition.
  • Conduct new hire inductions and or visitors, sub-contractors to project / site as required
  • Evaluate, develop and delivery of formal and informal safety programs for employees and clients as required.
  • Conduct safety meetings as required (daily, weekly) to cover safety topics pertaining to the project or specific work activity.
  • Investigate accidents/injuries to determine root causes and recommend corrective action.
  • Oversee the implementation, monitoring of industrial hygiene and safety related medical surveillance programs.
  • Prepare, analyze, and evaluate statistical data to provide information for trends and solutions to work related problems.
  • Advise and support operations leadership regarding effective execution of programs.
  • Maintains professional certifications and current knowledge of all safety and health laws, standards, and regulations.
  • Promote safety and health policies and best practices to reduce losses and liabilities.
  • Conduct regular field assessments, management training, inspections, and audits.
  • Recommend process improvements
  • Attend project meetings and complete minutes of meeting for HSE discussions as required


Successful candidates will have:

  • Minimum High School Diploma required
  • Hold a valid OSHA 500 certificate and be an experienced instructor for OSHA 10 and 30-hour courses would be desirable
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years in a dedicated safety role
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years project and field-based safety experience
  • Must be able to meet all physical requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, ProArc and/or other document management software and web-based tools
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Be able to successfully complete criminal background check, drug and alcohol screen
  • Must be able to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC)
  • Hold a valid driver’s license
