Presbyterian Healthcare Services is Hiring a Patient Visit Specialist-Infusion Near Albuquerque, NM

Overview

The Patient Visit Specialist performs visit closure activities to coordinate patient care while providing an exceptional patient experience for the successful completion of the next steps ordered by the clinician. The chosen individual would have advanced scheduling (Return scheduling knowledge to include the ability to scrub schedules for accuracy and efficiency in the home department) for specialty or radiologic procedures, recognizing payor requirements, and obtaining prior authorization/certification/referrals for visits/procedures. The individual will process daily referral work queues for authorization, deferring only those that require payor consideration. Work Primary Care and most Specialty Care offices must process STAT and ASAP referral work queues for results received, and monitor in-baskets and reports for overdue results, waitlisted appointments, recalls, etc.

Qualifications

Academic Preparation: *High school or equivalent *Short-term training in Medical Terminology*Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 codingExperience: *Minimum 18 months experience in a medical office setting with significant MD interaction*Proficiency in prior authorization/certification/referral process*Must pass EPIC competency for Registration at completion of Epic Clerical Training classProfessional Requirements:*Pass annual competency exam for all areas of responsibility.*Attend Quarterly MSO meetings.*Attend Staff meetings*Attend Employee ForumsAbilities: *Requires strong organizational and multi-tasking skill sets*Significant customer service skill set paramount*Must be able to function under pressure while maintaining professionalism*Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding

Responsibilities

Direct Care Activities: *Responsible for performing medical assistant procedures after completion of competency within organizations MA scope of work, under the supervision of a provider and PHS policy.*Assists with procedures as determined by provider*Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens*Basic foot care*May perform regulatory audits as designated by the Clinic Manger*Assists with visit closure*Participates with care team to meet patient care and clinic needs, working cooperatively with others to accomplish required work in a timely and efficient manner*May perform scribe duties after completing PMG scribe training*Performs other duties as directedIndirect Care Activities:*Responsible for Kanban system for stocking exam and procedure rooms. *Maintains a clean, organized, safe, well-stocked environment, and follows infection prevention and regulatory standards *Provides support for clerical functions when needed to include scheduling, referral management, and prior authorizations*Manages patients calls and in-basket messages*Schedules patient appointments according to guidelines. Monitors providers schedule to identify no shows for rescheduling. May include, but not limited to, placing reminder calls to patients*Manages prior authorization for durable medical equipment, diagnostics, medications and/or specialties *Manages referrals for diagnostic testing or specialist *Manages and maintains tracking of Advanced Directives, FMLA, and other patient forms. Customer Service and Caring Practices: *Uses cares principles as well as good listening, oral and interpersonal communication skills to create a supportive, therapeutic environment, and provides responsive, compassionate care in meeting patient, significant other, and family requests and needsTeamwork: *Participates on interdisciplinary team to meet patient care and clinic operation needs, working cooperatively with others to accomplish required work in a timely and efficient mannerVisit Navigation:*Prepares patient for the visit using established patient preparation guidelines, collecting appropriate and accurate data, and providing all aspects of primary support to the providerMessage Management/Test Result Notification:*Responsible for taking patient calls and initiating Telephone Encounter(s) for the providers and care team. *Trained in various programs to include but not limited to scheduling, prior authorizations, and referral management.Communication:*Communicates pertinent patient data to provider. Equipment and Procedures:*Uses equipment and performs patient care procedures in a safe, competent manner according to defined standards of practice. Quality Improvement: *Works collaboratively with the care team to meet process improvement goals and clinical quality metrics. Customer Service and Caring Practices: *Applies customer service principles as well as good listening, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
