Premistar is Hiring a Collections Specialist Near Deerfield, IL

The Collections Specialist collects monies on accounts receivable and improves cash flow. Duties include contacting customers and collecting outstanding amounts, working with internal team members to resolve customer issues, receiving payments, and keeping records of collection and status of accounts. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Locate and monitor overdue accounts, using computers and a variety of automated systems.
  • Identify reason for nonpayment and resolve with internal team members to rectify the issue.
  • Record information about the financial status of customers and status of collection efforts.
  • Locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts by mail, telephone, or email to solicit payment.
  • Communicate with customers by telephone to determine reasons for overdue payments and to review the terms of sales, service, or credit contracts.
  • Advise customers of necessary actions and strategies for debt repayment.
  • Persuade customers to pay amounts due on credit accounts or non-payable checks.
  • Sort and file correspondence and perform miscellaneous clerical duties such as answering correspondence and writing reports.
  • Perform various administrative functions for assigned accounts, such as recording address changes and purging the records of deceased customers.
  • Arrange for debt repayment or establish repayment schedules, based on customers' financial situations.
  • Answer customer questions regarding problems with their accounts.
  • Keeps Supervisor informed of the status of accounts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) and 5 years previous collections experience in a service-related industry.
Competencies:
  • Administrative skills and experience.
  • Customer Service.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Personal computer skills, strong typing ability and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This position is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary.
Work Environment
This job operates in both an office and a field environment. Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
