Maintenance Technician and Assistant

Job Description

General Summary: To perform routine manufacturing equipment and building maintenance duties. To ensure equipment and building are capable of running efficiently at all times and in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s).

Essential Functions:

• Performs minor repair of equipment.

• Performs preventive maintenance procedures on mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts.

• Repairs pneumatics systems.

• Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains logbook of scheduled maintenance procedures.

• Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.

• May obtain estimates from suppliers, repair parts, orders parts as needed with approval.

• Assist maintenance manager as needed.

• Ensure production personnel practice safe habits and follow safety rules.

• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• HMI and PLC experience

• Good skill in the use of hand and power tools.

• Ability to sufficiently use hand tools.

• Ability to read simple instructions and follow simple diagrams.

• Ability to perform simple tasks independently after being given specific instructions.

• Ability to stand and climb to perform repairs. Use ladder & perform various types of manual labor.

Physical Demands

• Regularly involves talking or listening, sitting, and the use of hands and fingers.

• Regularly involves reaching with hands and arms, standing and walking.

• Regularly involves crouching, stooping, kneeling and/or climbing or balancing.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds.

• Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.

• Involves moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.

• Should be able to identify and distinguish colors.

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• 3 to 4 years of professional experience in mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
