Role Summary:

We're looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join our team of insatiably curious and passionate engineers who never settle for "good enough".

The Platform's team mission is to ensure Prefect builds and scales as a high-performing engineering organization. We drive engineering excellence at Prefect, for the benefit of our engineers, our product and our customers. To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be comfortable with cloud-infrastructure (Azure, AWS or GCP), have a background in Kubernetes and DevOps, and enjoy engaging directly with technical-stakeholders to understand their needs.

You will report to our Engineering Manager, Jamie.

What You'll Do:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions
• Strengthen SRE practices by proactively monitoring and maintaining our SaaS application's stability, reliability, security, and observability.
• Manage Kubernetes clusters, including deployment, scaling, and monitoring
• Drive the adoption of DevOps best practices to streamline development and deployment processes
• Implement and maintain infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform
• Contribute to Prefect open-source projects, including the development of the Prefect Terraform provider and Prefect Helm charts

Your Qualifications:

• 5 years of experience in platform engineering roles, with a focus on Kubernetes, DevOps, and cloud infrastructure
• Proficiency in at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Scripting and automation skills, with expertise in Python or Go
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform
• Proficiency with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio)
• Prior experience developing and maintaining commercial Helm charts
• You possess initiative for identifying problems, proposing solutions, and communicating to keep team update of progress and blockers

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is ($189,000-$243,000). Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and work location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Your recruiter can share more about the salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Please keep in mind that equity is not included in the range provided above and will represent a significant part of your total compensation. Benefits and any bonus or incentive compensation is also not included in the range provided above.
